Inspiration and Creativity

At the heart of creativity is inspiration. Reflect on the words of Patanjali an Indian sage and mystic from 3 B.C

When you are inspired by some great purpose,

some extraordinary project,

all your thoughts break their bonds;

Your mind transcends limitations,

Your consciousness expands in every direction,

And you find yourself in a new, great

And wonderful world.

Dormant forces, faculties, and talents

Become alive, and you discover yourself

To be a greater person by far

Than you ever dreamed

Yourself to be.

We all are capable of being more creative.

Consider the four building blocks of creativity in the previous posting “Be Creative Now. Here’s How” . Add to that mix your “being inspired by some great purpose” and the result will be a new level of creative production that will surprise and delight everyone including yourself.

Great leaders are both inspirational as well as creative.

About cedricj

I am a licensed psychologist and management consultant and have always been intrigued by how leaders can inspire people in their organizations. The bottom line is that people are not always motivated by material rewards, the use of the carrot or the stick, fear and intimidation,and command and control, Five human needs inspire and drive us. Kristine S MacKain, Ph.D and myself describe these inspirational forces in our book "What Inspirational Leaders Do" (Kindle 2008)
